We at Daiwa have a passion for the carp. As a fish it has motivated some of the most exciting and cutting edge product design ever seen.
Our magnesium body Basia trio, including the mind blowing Basiair epitomise the level that our design team have been pushed to, to create the best.
Today the influence of the Basia family has passed down to the very realistic Windcast range, with features such as the pioneering QD Drag, HIP line clip and that distinct ‘wishbone’ handle on the Z model.
There is no doubt that the carp is now a way of life for many anglers. Its allure and guile seeing many of you travel to all corners of the map in search of that passion. One man who takes that passion to his own level is Danny Fairbrass.
With all tackle at his disposal he has for the last fifteen years caught every one of his carp on a Daiwa rod and reel. We see that as high testimony to the performance, design and reliability of our gear. So it was clearly time to allow him to design his own rod. A rare and privileged move we trusted Danny to come up with his own look. Welcome to the very desirable Infinity DF’s.

Infinity® Advanced DF Special

We have taken the tried and trusted Magnum Taper profile and given Danny Fairbrass the freedom to design his own specification and finish.
The result is a highly distinctive but subtle look using a low glare silk matt finish and selected medium profile, high diameter SiC guides. With a butt guide of 50mm the following intermediates of 38mm and 32mm they are designed to ‘funnel’ the line travel towards the tip. A set up that is preferred by big hitters out there.
Delivering Danny’s own look too is the handle combination. Starting with a Fuji reel seat and stainless steel trim rings the handle maintains an elegant feel thanks to the profiled NS grip that continues to the butt. Flared at the end for better gripping this stylised treatment is finished off with a stainless steel butt cap.

REELS

Windcast Z, X & S

Sharing in the design and features of the Basia trio the new Windcasts are truly sublime. Welcome to the future of first class travel!
The Z is a dream to use. It features no less than eight smooth running CRBBs and the same wishbone handle of the Basiair.
The X and Z have the valued QD quick drag function allowing big fish anglers to operate between ‘free spool’ and the drag engaged with less than one turn of the drag knob.
All three choices also come fitted with the High Impact HIP clip.

REELS

Tournament® BASIA® and BASIAR Reels

The Tournament BASIA Carp was the mark by which many anglers measured other ‘reels of desire’ and it is now the classic it was destined to become.
With the QDX the BASIA got a whole lot meaner and a whole lot black.
The 45mm spool has been double anodized in dark gunmetal and the ‘tailgate’ features a toned down finish called twilight. Even the wooden handle has been upgraded to a soft grip urethane knob!
Just when the angling world thought big reels for big carp couldn’t get any lighter the Daiwa development team in Japan pushed the boundaries of design and materials.
The truly beautiful BASIAIR weighs only 445 grams and has given up nothing in performance to achieve it.
