Shimano’s new Compact reel range provides a perfect solution for specimen hunters and specialist anglers alike looking to downsize kit and have a more minimalist approach to their angling.

This family can accurately be described as “mid sized” in dimensions only, retaining, as they surprisingly do, a full blooded big pit attitude for long range capability, combined with a powerhouse cranking engine.

The Ultegra 5500 XT-B is fitted with the superb Shimano Front Baitrunner Spool System whereas the 4500/5500 XS-B models have Instant Drag. Both models are packed to the gunnals with the tried and trusted Shimano reel technologies but with less dead weight.
